At THE Dispensary, we always want our customers to use cannabis products safely and have the best experience, so we have coined the company motto START LOW, GO SLOW. For all intoxicating products (THC in our case) it is always best to use this practice for a few different reasons, but finding YOUR dosage is most important.
EVERY PERSON’S BODY IS DIFFERENT
You and I will react differently to the same product because of our body’s make-up. For instance; if we both ingest the same 20mg edible, we could both have a completely different experience. This makes it difficult to "dose" somebody who has not already found the correct dosage for themselves.
There are many different factors that play into the differentiation such as weight, metabolism, endocannabinoid system, ingestion method and whether or not you have food in your system. This has led us to further push Start Low, Go Slow because you cannot compare your experience to someone elses.
AVOID NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS
We want to promote responsibility when using THC products and cannabis. For decades, cannabis, cannabis users, and THC has received a negative stigma due to dramatized and incorrect reporting that related THC to a bunch of negative side effects relating to health and your personal well-being. We believe when users WEED RESPONSIBLY - cannabis and THC can produce the opposite effects and promote a healthy lifestyle when used responsibly.
When users Start Low, Go Slow; they can avoid “greening out” or having any of the negative side effects associated with cannabis products.
FINDING YOUR DOSAGE
As discussed above, every person’s body is different; which means each person will have a different “appropriate” dosage level that is right for them. It is best practice to start at a lower dosage, and work your way up until you reach desired effects; instead of taking too high of a dose and experiencing negative effects.
Once you have reached your desired level of effects, you have now found YOUR dosage. Use this method for each ingestion method (edible, smokeable, topical); as they all are absorbed/digested differently. For example: Edibles will take your body longer to digest than smoking; which absorbs quicker through the lungs - so effects will differ.
SO….HOW MUCH SHOULD I TAKE?
Find the dosage that is correct for YOU by starting off with lower milligram edibles and lower % THC products, and increase your intake until you reach desired effects. This will help you avoid any unwanted effects and produce the best and safest possible experience!
Edibles - A "standard "dose", or single serving of an edible is typically 5mg - 10mg, but can range all the way up to 100mg/edible depending on the States cannabis restrictions.
Flower - Flower THC percentage will vary by each strain, and the harvest of that strain. High percentage flower can range in the 30% THC, so if you find a strain like this, best leave it to the pros. Beginners may want to stick around 10% THC
On your journey to find the best dose - ask your local budtender for directions!
